Raney Township Gold Property near Timmins, OntarioThe Raney property is located in Raney Township, approximately 110 km southwest of Timmins, Ontario. It is comprised of 15 claim units covering 3500 acres located in the central portion of Raney Township, within the Swayze Greenstone Belt. Access to the property is via a network of logging roads that lead to within 200 metres of the No. 1 showing. The property covers two historic gold showings; the No. 1 and the No. 2.
The No. 1 showing, which is roughly centered on the property, contains disseminated pyrite, chalcopyrite and gold, reporting values of up to 23 g/t Au. The vein occurs within a 10 metre wide silica-pyritecarbonate-sericite alteration envelope. Historic drilling to test this showing returned assays of 2.04 g/t Au over 4.57 metres. Diamond drilling by the property vendors to further test this showing to the east has outlined two zones of disseminated sulphides. This first is a 2.25 metre section that assayed 4.81 g/t Au (153.0m-155.25m), and a second 2.4 metre section that assayed 5.04 g/t Au (157.4m-159.8m). The No. 2 showing occurs approximately 250 metres southeast of the No. 1 showing and is situated within a 100 metre wide zone of shearing and alteration containing additional quartz veins and sulphide mineralization. It has been traced for a strike length of 35 metres where it disappears under overburden in both directions. Previously reported grab samples taken from galena bearing quartz vein material have assayed in excess of 25.5 g/t Au. Apart from the above mentioned work programs, a joint venture program carried out by Goldrock Resources and Glen Auden Resources from 1986-1988 also reported encouraging geophysical results. An Induced Polarization survey was successful in outlining several high priority anomalies within the current claim group. It should also be noted that the area to the east of the No. 1 showing, where it strikes under a swamp has shown the most encouraging drill results thus far, was never tested with Induced Polarization. Historic work in addition to the work programs carried out by the property vendors have shown the area to contain significant amounts of gold over mineable widths. Based on the results obtained from the property thus far, additional work is warranted to determine if economic resources can be outlined. Diamond drilling carried out on the Raney gold project has shown some very encouraging results. Gold values have been obtained in two separate zones that show a grade and width that has the potential to be economical should enough tonnage be outlined.

Upon examining the core from one of these drill holes (RAN-08-04), an un-sampled section with appreciable quartz veining and sericite alteration was identified and sampled by MPH Ventures. The split section returned an assay of 14.38 g/t Au over 1.7 metres, and combined with the historical assay results averaged 3.91 g/t Au over 17.20 metres.
In May of 2009, MPH Ventures commenced a drill program consisting of step-out holes to the east and west on strike to the historic drill holes. The drill results have been very encouraging thus far. In June of 2009, Hole R-09-08 intersected 6.52 g/t Au over 8.0 metres which included a 3.5 metre wide grey quartz vein containing four occurrences of visible gold. A second mineralized zone located 6 metres down hole, assayed 1.01 g/t Au over 5.0 metres. The gold mineralization is located at the 100 metre vertical level and correlates to the position of the gold mineralization in R-08-04, 7.7 g/t Au over 6.8 metres within a broader zone of 3.9 g/t Au over 17.2 metres.

The ongoing exploration program at the Raney Gold project has focused on tracing a gold bearing structure intersected in seven drill holes along a 100 metre long trend. Mechanical trenching has exposed the structure westward for 100 metres of strike extent from the current area of drilling. The trenches host alteration with discrete quartz veins ranging between 0.10 metres to 2.5 metres in width. The veins have been sampled with a series of channel saw cuts along the 100 metre long trend. The structure has now been traced with the combination of diamond drilling and surface trenching along a 200+ metre strike distance.

![]() click to enlarge To date, fourteen diamond drill holes have been completed on the project, five holes by past project operators and nine holes by MPH Ventures. Significant gold intersections include 7.7 g/t Au over 6.8 metres in hole R-09-04, 6.5 g/t Au over 8.0 metres in hole R-09-08, and 3.5 g/t Au over 6.8 metres in hole 99-01. In December 2009, a 2nd phase drill program consisting of a four hole, 800 metre diamond drill program was completed. The Phase 2 drill program was planned to test the limits of this gold bearing structure at or below the 100 metre level. Drill locations were limited to the north and east by wet ground, but will be accessible for additional drilling during a phase 3 2010 winter drill program. Table 1 -- Raney Phase 2 Assay Results DDH From m To m Width m gm/t Au R-09-11 57.00 60.00 3.00 4.7 R-09-11 59.00 60.00 1.00 11.5 R-09-11 97.00 105.00 8.00 1.6 R-09-12 95.00 97.25 2.50 2.9 R-09-13 NSA R-09-14 177.50 179.25 2.25 1.4 The results from the small number of drill holes to date indicate excellent potential for the discovery of a continuous zone of gold mineralization.

![]() click to enlarge The Timmins Gold Camp: A Brief HistoryIn active production since 1909, the Timmins Gold Camp has produced over 70 million ounces of gold. There are four active mines and several advanced exploration/development projects that highlight the highly lucrative area in and around Timmins, Ontario. Founded by prospecting discoveries in the early 1900's, the gold mineralization in the Timmins Gold Camp is home to over 35 current and former producers typically developed around moderate to steeply plunging high-grade quartz vein systems which have been mined to depths of up to 2,500 metres. Historically mining has focused on high-grade (7-10 grams/tonne gold), underground gold deposits located along or in close proximity to major fault systems. These fault systems run tens of kilometres through the entire Timmins District. More recently large open pits have been developed along these major fault systems and around the former underground producers. Currently, Goldcorp (TSX: G) operates the Dome, Hoyle Pond and Pamour mines in Timmins and is undertaking a re-evaluation of the historic Hollinger/McIntyre system which has produced over 32 million ounces of gold since being placed into production in 1910. The West Timmins DistrictThe West Timmins District is the western extension of the Timmins Gold Camp and has increasingly become the focus of exploration and discovery activities in the Camp. Commencing with the discovery of the Golden River Trend in 1996 by West Timmins Mining Inc. (now owned by Lake Shore Gold Corp. (TSX: LSG)) there have been a series of significant gold discoveries in the West Timmins District.

Lake Shore Gold's Timmins West Deposit (now referred to as the Timmins Mine project) is located 18 kilometres west of Timmins and 42 kilometres by road from the Bell Creek Mill (also owned by Lake Shore Gold), where ore from the project will be treated. Lake Shore Gold has completed a pre-feasibility study and is currently working to put the property into production.
Thunder Creek and Timmins Mine Properties
![]() click to enlarge Lakeshore Gold's Thunder Creek property is located immediately adjacent to the Timmins Mine property. Since 2007, a number of encouraging exploration results have been announced on the property. Recent drill intercepts include 12.75 grams/tonne gold over 83.4 metres, 8.65 grams/tonne gold over 24.9 metres, 24.61 grams/tonne gold over 7.0 metres, and 8.65 grams/tonne gold over 9.0 metres.
Drilling on the Thunder Creek Property
![]() click to enlarge Lake Shore Gold has opened up a whole new mindset of locating resources at greater depths west of Timmins. We will be developing a plan to not only confirm the historic ore grades at shallower depth, but also to aggressively explore the Desantis below the 400 meter level which was the approximate limit of past exploration. The latest gold discoveries and developments in the West Timmins area have made it a very prospective location for gold exploration and mining in Canada. |
